The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care in residential and educational settings. The registered nurse utilizes Comprehensive Nursing Assessments which identify the childâ! s physical, emotional and behavioral needs and which are developmentally appropriate.
The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to carry out nursing interventions and evaluations that are age appropriate and therapeutically sound.
Essential Responsibilities
Service Delivery
1. Functions as the primary health educator to students and families for issues of diet, weight loss, smoke cessation, sleep, hygiene, sexuality.
2. Functions as liaison with non Pressley Ridge health care providers, including primary care, specialists, and mental health providers.
3. Supervises procedures for medication administration.
4. Provides nursing care based on needs of our youngsters.
5. Initiates referrals where necessary for routine physical examinations, dental examinations, immunizations. Provides screening tests as needed.
6. Conducts nursing assessment on intake and documents.
7. Verifies correc! tness of medication received for on-grounds administration, an! d packaged for off ground activities and therapeutic leaves.
8. Assists with the review and completion of medication administration records.
9. Implements physician orders.
10. Provides in-service/training as required.
11. Functions as a Licensed Professional by conducting face-to-face assessments and evaluations according to Pressley Ridge Policy titled Restraint Use in Pennsylvania Residential Treatment Facilities.
12. Provides consultation on and oversight of the establishment of standard procedures and protocols that create a structured and accountable system of delivery all medical services, including health education.
13. Creates and reviews standard practice for standing orders for minor illness and for OTC medications.
14. Participates with staff psychiatrist to assess plan, implement, and evaluate medical interventions.
Regulatory Compliance
1. Updates skills and maintain necessary cre! dential(s).
2. Demonstrates knowledge of proper documentation and charting procedures and completes in a timely manner.
3. Adheres to all best practice standards as relates to accreditation and licensing.
4. Follows all Pressley Ridge policies, procedures and protocols.
Quality Improvement
1. Utilizes data for decision making and performance improvement from the following sources: Environmental Site Safety committees; Client/Caregiver Survey; Stakeholder Survey; Client Record Reviews; Root Cause Analysis; Gap Analysis Training Transcripts; Interagency Meetings.
2. Monitors program consistency to Service Line performance indicators and recommendations.
3. Participates and monitors program adherence to trauma sensitive, coercion free model indicators.
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications
1. Education/Credentials/Licensure:
a. Current State Nursing License
b. Grad! uate of an accredited school of nursing.
c. Completed an appro! ved pharmacology course
d. Current CPR card
e. Valid driverâs license and auto insurance
2. Experience: Minimum one year of nursing experience; Behavioral health setting
serving children and/or adolescents preferred.
3. Clearances: State Police/FBI per state regulations; Child Protection
