The Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry and the Chestnut Ridge Center for Behavioral Health, West Virginia University (! WVU) School of Medicine ( www.wvu.edu/som ) is seeking outstanding physician-scientists committed to research, clinical practice, and education. Specific areas of interest include affective illnesses, cognitive disorders, and substance abuse/addiction. Appointments will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. Applicants must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology.

The Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry and the Chestnut Ridge Center provide high-level in-patient and out-patient care for a wide range of neuropsychiatric illnesses. The clinical program also includes the psychiatric treatment facility at William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital in Weston, WV and statewide outreach through telemedicine. Research programs involve strong interactions with the WVU Center for Neuroscience ( http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/wvucn/ ), the Blanchette Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute ( http://brni.org/ ), and the West Vir! ginia Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute ( http://w! vctsi.org/Pages/ ). Educational and training programs include those for medical and graduate students, residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows.

West Virginia University ( www.wvu.edu ) is the State’s land-grant university, with approximately 25,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate/professional students. It is located in Morgantown, West Virginia, which is rated one of the best small cities in the United States, with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside, and many outdoor activities ( www.morgantown.com ). The WVU Health Sciences Center ( www.hsc.wvu.edu ) includes the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and a recently launched School of Public Health, each with health professional and graduate programs. Two new research buildings accommodate our aggressive research growth agenda. WVU Healthcare, our integrated health system, includes a multispecialty practice plan and our campus hospitals. This organization is in! vesting in clinical and research growth in partnership with the School of Medicine. New faculty are being hired, plans for increasing inpatient beds and ambulatory facilities are in place, and a $230 million capital infusion is underway.

Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have well established research programs with transferrable federal funding. Candidates for Assistant Professor should have training and expertise consistent with development as an externally funded independent investigator. Successful candidates will contribute to the research, clinical, education, and service missions of the Department and Center and will have access to the resources of the School of Medicine and the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute ( http://wvctsi.org/Pages/ ).
