The Psychiatric Physician contributes to the agency mission by providing medical services that meet current standards and best practices. Specifically, the physician will: 1) conduct psychiatric evaluations, 2) oversee methadone treatment.
DUTIES
Provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for agency clients.
- Evaluate agency referred clients.
- Determine the appropriate level of referral care when indicated.
- Consult with outside providers on psychiatric treatment/medication as neede! d.
- Prescribe appropriate psychotropic and addiction t! reatment medication according to Liberation Programs policies and procedures, compliant with all federal and state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Provide medication management for clients psychotropic and addiction treatment medications; coordinate with outside prescribers as needed.
- Bring new ideas to the agency regarding current medical trends and real-world applications.
- Supervise medical services unit operations to assure that the agency's mission and highest standards of medical care and regulations/accreditation standards are met.
- Maintain 24/7 telephone on-call status for emergencies/urgent questions.
- Enforce performance of safe and effective medical services.
- Review policies and procedures and recommend revisions as necessary.
- Participate in performance improvement activities.
Licensed in the State of! Connecticut to practice medicine.
Certifications:
- Board Certified in Psychiatry (or Child Psychiatry) by the American Board of Psychiatry (or Child Psychiatry) and Neurology; minimum requirement is board eligibility with at least 3 years of a general psychiatry residency.
- Certified Addictions Specialist by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM); if not certified must achieve certification within one year of hire.
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate.
