Entry Requirements:
Candidates should have (a) completed Secondary 3 education, or equivalent; (b) at least one year’s relevant laboratory and field working experience; (c) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese Language equivalent to Primary 6 standard and in English Language equivalent to Secondary 3 standard; and (d) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST).
(Note: (i) Candidates will be required to pass a relevant trade-cum-physical test; (ii) Candidates should state clearly in their applications their academic qualifications and Chinese and English languages proficiency level attained. Applicants who fail to provide all necessary information as requested to prove that they have met the entry requirements will not be considered; (iii) All qualifications/experience required should be obtained on or before the application deadline. Qualifications/experience obtained after the application deadline will not be considered.)

Duties:
A Laboratory Attendant is mainly deployed on (a) assisting in performing sampling, flow gauging and simple testing work; (b) assisting in taking samples and performing manual duties on the handling and transportation of instrument and equipment; (c) assisting in keeping all equipment for tests in working order and clean condition; (d) maintaining the laboratory and working areas in a clean and orderly condition; and (e) allocating duties and supervising the work of subordinate staff.
(Note: The post requires to work in remote areas; perform outdoor duties and work outside normal working hours, in irregular hours or shifts or to perform duties when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is in force.)

Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
