As the Suicide Prevention Coordinator the position will be responsible as the coordinator for the care of Veterans at suicidal risk and as advisor to the Chief of Psychiatry, Behavioral Health and Rehabilitative Service, Facility leadership, Program managers, and staff concerning suicide prevention strategies for individual patients and for the facility and Veterans community as a whole.

DUTIES:
This position serves as the coordinator for the care of Veterans at suicidal risk. Duties include implementing suicide prevention efforts at the local level, supporting the indentification of Veterans at high risk, coordinating enhanced care when needed, providing on-going education to providers, Veterans, families, and members of the community on risk factors and warning signs for suicide and treatment options. Responsible for tracking all suicide attempts, providing follow-up with any no show patients, dissseminating, organizing, and conducting evidence-based and promising emerging interventions, maintaining awareness of suicide treatment options, obtaining any relevant HIPPA clearances, triaging emergent mental health patients, maintaining on-going Gatekeeper program, working with community resources, interacting clinn! acally with Behavior Health clinicians, primary care clinicians, patients, and families, meeting Joint Commission standards, contacting Veterans through written and telephone communication, creating and maintaining forms, data, surveys, instruments, and materials for tracking and reporting suicidal activity, and adhering to establilshed policies, standards of care, and standards of practice.
Position is located at the Louis A. Johnson VAMC in Clarksburg, WV.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GS-11 GRADE LEVEL:
Must be a United States Citizen, possess a masters degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)--a doctoral degree in social work
may not
be substituted for the masters degree in social work, licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the masters degree level, and must be proficient in spoken ! and written English. GS-11 social workers must have one year of post gr! aduate work as a social worker.
